Wassim™ Posted February 23, 2019 Posted February 23, 2019 This Sunday, Francisco ends his trip to Panama with a closing Mass at the World Youth Day, which brought together people from all over the world. The Pope spoke of everything: peace in Colombia, abuses in the Church, migration, technology and even "influencers". These were the five most important messages. For five days thousands of young people gathered in Panama to celebrate the World Youth Day, a celebration that was inaugurated by Pope John Paul II several years ago. In this meeting we seek to continue with the interest of the late Pope: to evangelize, particularly young people. The Pontiff launched a call for peace for Colombia after the recent murder of 22 young people in the Santander General School, which, according to Francisco, was provoked by "terrorist hatred". During his speech he later recalled one by one the young students of the main police school in the country who died after the explosion of a bomb car and reiterated his request for peace for Colombia. This Sunday Francisco ends his twenty-sixth trip abroad since he was elected pope in 2013, with the closing mass of the WYD in the Metro Park, renamed Campo San Juan Pablo II. These were the other most important messages left by the Pope. The Pope acknowledged that the Church "is wounded by his sin" at a mass in the imposing colonial cathedral of Panama and held less than a month after the summit of bishops convened by Francisco for the scandals of pedophilia and its cover-up that have also affected to the church in Latin America. He warned about the fatigue that "is born when a Church is wounded by her sin and that so many times she has not heard so many screams".Pope Francis denounced the conformism that he said is the "drug most consumed today" and that prevents us from recognizing the suffering that surrounds us, during his speech at the Way of the Cross that was celebrated during the World Youth Day (JM) in Panama.
