FearLess Posted February 22, 2019 Posted February 22, 2019 Clermont-Ferrand - Pole vault world record holder Renaud Lavillenie will miss the upcoming European Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow after failing to recover in time from a hamstring injury, the Frenchman announced on Friday. "Unfortunately I'm not going to be able to jump," Lavillenie said to reporters. "I'm in a recovery period and that means I either make the same mistakes as I have these past two years - I try to jump, I potentially injure myself and then I lose time on summer preparation - or I learn from my mistakes and take my time." Lavillenie, 32, picked up his hamstring knock at the Paris-Bercy meet on January 27 and has not competed since. His decision to focus on summer preparation hints at a desire for glory at this year's world championships, which begin in Doha on September 27. Lavillenie set the world record of 6.16m in February 2014.
