Imagining a Lions tour squad: Who would earn selection after opening two rounds of the 2019 Six Nations

fter the Autumn Internationals, I was asked to imagine that 2019 wasn't a World Cup year and, instead, we had a Lions tour to look forward to and suggest who would be deserving of a place in a hypothetical 41-man squad.

Ireland and Wales had claimed clean sweeps - the Irish bagging the prized scalp of New Zealand - while England won three out of four. Scotland won two and lost two.

So good were Joe Schmidt's men in green that they climbed to No 2 in the world rankings and were being labelled the best team in the world. And it was hard to argue with this.
