Blexfraptor
Photoshop is the program par excellence for editing and retouching photographs, but it is not the only one, and it is not limited to these two areas. In Photoshop we can make graphic designs - with certain limitations - in which, without a doubt, having a good library of fonts, or fonts, is essential. But how do they install? Fortunately for the users, Photoshop takes the fonts of the system, so that we only have to install them in Windows 10 -or the operating system that we use-, and that's it. We explain it to you What is a font or font Typographies or fonts, to be easily understood, are the designs, appearances and dimensions of symbols, numbers and letters. The operating system, either Windows 10 or an earlier version, already has a number of pre-installed sources such as Arial, Comic Sans MS or Times New Roman, and many others that virtually any user knows and could recognize at a glance. However, on the Internet we can find thousands and thousands of fonts and fonts of various types, which can complement or complete our creative work when we put ourselves at 'the controls' of Photoshop. Differences between TrueType and OpenType, different font formats and fonts OTF, TTF or Type 1 fonts are used in an operating system. The difference between TrueType and OpenType is that the first one was created by Apple, to compete with the Type 1 format, which is from Adobe. And it has its origin at the end of the 80s. The key in it is that it allowed more control over the shape of the letters, while the TrueType types are formed with non-PostScrypt vector elements. But why do we have them in Windows? Because Apple sold a license to Apple, and they are compatible from Leopard. OpenType is based on TrueType, which was described by curves that a tracker converts into a bitmap for each body; before rasterizing, the types are adjusted to an output grid, and this prevents loss of quality. In OpenType, its 'successor', the structure is complemented with data tables that give the option to incorporate, to a source, advanced typographical and linguistic functions. OpenType is compatible with all operating systems and is the most recommended format, due to the availability of symbols, accents or the very letter 'ñ' How to add a new font in Photoshop As we said before, Adobe Photoshop's font system is based on the font library installed in the system. In Windows 10, and in previous operating systems of Microsoft, we have to go to Start> Run and write in the text box the following: '% windir% \ fonts'. Clicking on accept will open the menu we wanted to reach, and we can click on File and then on Install new source. In the new box that appears, we can select the unit and folder in which our source to be installed is stored. But if we have Windows 10, the form is even simpler: we can do something as simple as double-clicking on the file we have obtained for typography, and once the source demo is opened, we can click on Install , for which permission as administrator will be necessary. Where to get new fonts or fonts to use in Photoshop In the Microsoft Store operating system Windows 10 there are all kinds of available sources, which can be used in Photoshop and other programs, but on the Internet we also have several web pages where there are thousands of new sources. In DaFont, for example, with a search by categories we can easily find the typography we want and, in addition, they have a text box to write what we want and, before downloading, have a preview of how the text will be displayed with that typography. In web pages like this, fonts, as a rule, are usually downloaded in a .ZIP or .RAR compressed folder. With a program like WinZIP, or WinRAR, we can extract the contents of the folder and do the double click that we mentioned before about the file, and proceed with the installation. The only thing that we have to take into account is the use that we will give to the new sources that we have downloaded for Photoshop, because some of them can not be used commercially without the corresponding permission.
