Samsung is one of the most important companies in the world in terms of memory chips. In addition to being the largest manufacturer of DRAM, so is NAND. In addition, the company is making progress in the production of SSDs with QLC memories, with a somewhat lower durability, but with a higher density and lower cost.

Samsung 860 QVO: your SSDs with the best cost / capacity ratio
Samsung announced last August that they are already mass producing 3D NAND QLC memories. Now, the company is going to put on sale the first Samsung 860 QVO (Quality & Value Optimized) units. These SSDs will be the cheapest offered by the company in their respective storage capacities, but it will do so with a base capacity of 1TB.

At the moment, the units that have begun to be listed in some European stores are the versions of 1, 2 and 4 TB, being the 1 TB the most basic that can be purchased from this new range for a price (without VAT) of 118 euros The 2 TB will cost 226 euros, while the 4 TB will cost 452 euros. These prices are without VAT, and with it they become 142, 273 and 547 euros. Even so, they are cheaper than the 860 EVO.

With these great capacities it is also sought to compensate their With these great capacities it also seeks to compensate its lower durability, putting it at the same level as others of lower capacity that use TLC chips. According to the first figures, the durability of the SSD would be 360 TBW for the 1 TB model, 720 TBW for the 2 TBW model, and 1440 TBW for the 4 TB model. The warranty is for 3 years, for the 5 years offered by the EVO range.

EUR 86.50
The durability is half with respect to the EVO, but they have the same speed and are cheaper
In comparison, the 860 EVO with TLC memories have 150 TBW for the 250 GB, 300 TBW for the 500 GB, 600 TB for the 1 TB, 1200 TBW for the 2 TB, and 2400 TBW for the 4 TB . Thus, we have the price of the unit QVO of 1 TB 20 euros less than the EVO 1 TB, in exchange for lasting half. Less durability, putting it at the same level as others of lower capacity using TLC chips. According to the first figures, the durability of the SSD would be 360 TBW for the 1 TB model, 720 TBW for the 2 TBW model, and 1440 TBW for the 4 TB model. The warranty is for 3 years, for the 5 years offered by the EVO range.

In terms of speed, these QVO units offer up to 550 MB / s of reading and 520 MB / s of writing, in agreement with other SSD SATA of the market. In terms of random speed, we have 96,000 reading IOPS and 89,000 writing IOPS.

On its availability there is still nothing confirmed, but some media say they will be for sale next December.
