The Government and the students of the public universities returned Monday to sit down at the dialogue table,

after almost a week of suspension, without reaching any agreement that ends the student strike, which will complete a month and a half.

The meeting began at eight o'clock in the morning at the Compensar convention center in western Bogota, and after more than 12 hours behind closed doors, the student leaders and the delegates of the Ministries of Education and Finance left without issuing any type of pronouncement in front of the treated subjects.
"We approve not to give statements to the press; tomorrow (today) we will continue deliberating, "said Adolfo Atehortúa, former director of the Pedagogical University, as he left the convention center.

According to The Time, the leaders of the students presented six proposals in which they consider that there are sufficient resources to complete the 500,000 million pesos needed by public universities in order to finish the academic year.
Jénifer Pedraza, one of the student leaders, told Caracol Radio that among those sources are the resources not executed this year by public entities, which are, in his opinion, in bank accounts. To this the profits obtained by Icetex in recent years, estimated at 550,000 million pesos, would be added.
The parties had left the table after President Duque assured that there was no more money. On Monday, the head of state opened the door to meet with the youth, but on the condition that they suspend the strike. "Let's have a table, but not a conjunctural table. Let's find a great educational table where we are all together and take advantage of the construction of the Development Plan to make that great pact for education, "he said.
