UN / LEADER.- Barcelona secured a place in the last 16 of the Champions League by drawing a goal at San Siro against the Inter Milan squad.

The Brazilian attacker Malcom advanced in minute 83 to the azulgranas, who could not count on the Argentine LionelMessi, although four minutes later Mauro Icardi established the final tie with a shot inside the area.

With the 1-1 against Inter, Barcelona have sealed the pass to the knockout stages of this edition of the Champions League maintaining the tradition since returning to the top continental competition in the 2004-05 season. They are, therefore, 15 consecutive campaigns achieving their main objective in the group stage.

In this way, the team of Argentine star Lionel Messi is assured that his name is in one of the kicks of the draw that will take place on Friday, December 17 at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon-Switzerland. He just needs to secure the first place that would allow him to play the second game of the second round at the Camp Nou.

To do this, he needs three more points to not depend on anyone, and in the absence of two dates to play he will seek to get it in the duels against PSV in Eindhoven on November 28 and against local Tottenham on December 11.

Throughout this period, only in 2004-05 and 2006-07 did not finish first in the group and both seasons were the only ones in which he fell in the round of 16 with the away trip: first in Stamford Bridge against Chelsea and two years later at Anfield against Liverpool.

Finally, the Barsa pursues in this edition his sixth continental title and end step with the curse that pursues him in the last three seasons to be eliminated in the instance of quarterfinals.
