Apple releases a new version of iOS 12.1 exclusively for the iPhone XR

Apple has released a new version of iOS 12.1 exclusively for users of the iPhone XR. This new update comes a week after the company launched a general iOS 12.1 update for all the iPhone, both the XR, the iPhone XS and the XS MAX.

A few weeks ago we explained that the update of iOS 12.1 that Apple had released solved the exaggerated effect of smoothing the skin that made the beauty filter in the selfies. A feature that had been complained about by the users of the iPhone XS, XS Max and also the iPhone XR. Once the phones were updated it seemed that everything had been solved, but now Apple has decided to launch a new version of that update exclusively for the XR, something that until now in the history of the iPhone had not happened.

This new version differs from the previous one with the naked eye by the build number, the 16B94 compared to the 16B93 that the rest of users have already updated their terminals. This new version is only available for those iPhone XR who have not yet done the 12.1 update, that is, they are still using the version of iOS 12 or iOS 12.0.1. Therefore, if you have an iPhone XR and you have already updated iOS 12.1, this new version is not necessary.

As we said, this is the first time that Apple acts in this way and so far has not explained what this new version focused on the iPhone XR, so we can assume that it is simple corrections to minor errors.

Even so, as it is an official and stable update, it is advisable not to skip it. If your iPhone XR is among those who need this update and you have not yet received the notification, you can go to the mobile configuration and in the General section you will find the section Software Update with all the data and the build number.

Besides the small corrections that this new version can bring, you will receive all the improvements that the iOS 12.1 brings as the rectification of the beauty effect in the selfies that we have explained before; besides a support for a digital SIM or eSIM that allows activating a cell phone plan without the need of having a graphic card; a new function of control of depth in real time for photographs and more than 70 new emojis, among many other more corrections.
