Guest Posted November 4, 2018 Posted November 4, 2018 It was one of the requests most demanded by the fans. One year and eight months after the premiere of the console, YouTube will be released on Nintendo Switch next November 8. It seems a trivial news, since nowadays YouTube is in all the sites, including the PS4 and Xbox One consoles, or the Nintendo, Wii-U and 3DS machines. But is not. Because so far Nintendo had refused to include applications on Nintendo Switch other than games, claiming that it is a machine to play. That's why the premiere of YouTube on Nintendo Switch is an important news, because it marks a change of direction with respect to the apps that we will be able to see in Switch in the future. This release fixes a problem like last week, when Switch users could not see the streaming of the new Super Smash Bros Ultimate Direct from the console itself. And the video took more than a day to appear on the news channel of the Switch. Until now Nintendo Switch had only received a video app, that of Hulu, but only in the United States. Also some local version in Japan. Users had been asking for the premiere of YouTube on Nintendo Switch for a long time, since many people use it to watch gameplays and unboxings of the games. Although Nintendo has not yet made it official, on the Nintendo America website the YouTube app appears with a release date on November 8: Taking into account that we talk about the official website, everything indicates that the premiere is final, at least in the United States. Hopefully it will also do it in Europe. Nintendo Switch packs with Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Fortnite and Pokémon The arrival of YouTube to Nintendo Switch opens the doors to other similar apps such as Twitch, Netflix or HBO. The hybrid concept of Switch would allow you to do things like watch a series of Netflix lying in bed, in Portable mode, and continue instantly on the TV, introducing the console into the dock. Or keep watching your favorite series without stopping it, even if you have to go to the bathroom ... No technical data has been filtered, but the logical thing is that YouTube videos on Nintendo Switch can be enjoyed at 1080p resolution in TV mode, and at 720p in Portable mode.
