UN.- Ronald Acuña Jr., of the Atlanta Braves, and Shohei Ohtani, of the Los Angeles Angels and Anaheim, were recognized as Rookies of the Year in the National and American League, respectively, by the magazine Baseball Digest.

Acuña, 20, received seven first-place votes after a season in which he hit eight homers to open a game to set a Braves record. The native of La Guaira batted .293 with a .366 on-base average, .552 slugging, 26 homers, 26 doubles and 16 steals.

Ohtani joined the legendary Babe Ruth as the only players who have managed to connect at least 15 homers and have thrown at least 50 innings in a season. In 82 games as a designated hitter, Ohtani posted an offensive average of .285 with a .361 on-base percentage, .564 slugging, 22 home runs and stole 10 bases. In 10 starts, he was 4-2 with a 3.31 ERA.
