Marcelo joins growing list of injury concerns

The hamstring injury Marcelo suffered during last Sunday’s Clásico is set to keep the Brazilian out for several weeks, meaning he will likely miss the upcoming LaLiga games against Valladolid and Celta Vigo, and the Champions League away tie to Viktoria Plzen.

“Following tests carried out on Marcelo by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a muscular injury to his right hamstring. His recovery will continue to be assessed,” the club said in a statement released today.

The hamstring has been a repeated concern for the defender this year:

Growing injury list
Marcelo joins the growing list of injury concerns for interim coach Santiago Solari, which already includes: Dani Carvajal, who is not expected to return to action until November 22 due to a calf injury; Rafael Varane, who is out until the December with a torn abductor muscle; and Mariano Diaz, whose hamstring injury will see him side-lined until mid-November.
