The Utah Jazz had a great weekend! A week ago Jazz fans were worried about this early, difficult road trip. The Jazz once again proved there was nothing to be worried about. The Jazz are now 3-0 on this road trip, with one game left.

On Saturday the Jazz beat the Pelicans 132-111. Ricky Rubio and Rudy Gobert especially shined. Ricky finished with 28 points and 12 assists. Rudy Gobert had 25 points, including 10 dunks! 132 points was a season high for the Jazz.On Sunday evening, the Utah Jazz beat the up and coming Dallas Mavericks 113-104. The Jazz have traditionally struggled in Dallas, especially on Sunday evening games. I was proud to see the Jazz rise about the refs, rise above the dirty plays of the Mavericks and grind out a win. Yes, they had to grind it out despite scoring 113 points. Rudy was our leading scorer with 23 points and our leading rebounder with 16 rebounds. Rudy is making the game look so easy. Lobs for days, dunks for days, blocks for days.

We all know Quin Snyder is an amazing coach. Easily one of the top 5 coaches in the NBA. We are lucky to have him in Utah. Andy Larsen, wrote an article in the Trib, about Quin. Recognizing that Video coordinators is a po[CENSORED]r path for future NBA coaches. Eric Spolstra. David Fizdale, James Borrego, Mike Budenholzer, Mike Malone and Steve Clifford all spent time as video coordinators.

Quin replaced the video coordinator position with what he calls the DAV Program”

Andy says:

So he’s replaced the video coordinator and video intern roles within the Jazz’s coaching staff with the “DAV Program,” to teach and nurture the next generation of coaches. “DAV” is an acronym, standing for player Development, Advance scouting, and Video. Those are the three skills that Snyder believes a coach needs to be successful in the industry.

Rudy’s play has been spectacular. My daughter was looking at his stats and noticed he is averaging career high in points and rebounds. Yes, simple stats but it got her excited. Lot’s of people are excited about Rudy’s improved offensive ability.

Usually, whenever there is talk about Rudy it is about defense and naive fans will talk about what a liability he is on the offensive end because of his lack of three point ability. Rudy’s ability to roll, spaces the floor. It gets easy buckets for him and his teammates. The added focus on lobs to Rudy makes the game so much fun and despite looking easy, other teams haven’t been able to stop them.
