Inkriql Posted October 28, 2018 Posted October 28, 2018 Windows is the most po[CENSORED]r desktop operating system by far, although there are few who prefer macOS or Linux. The problem is that not all Windows programs are available in other OS, starting with the games. However, fortunately for all, you can play Windows games on Linux normally and legally. At last you will be able to run Age of Empires or Civilization in Ubuntu and other distributions. So far, this was a complicated thing that required using programs such as PlayonLinux, which are not easy for inexperienced users to handle. Now you can run Windows games on Linux through Steam, directly from your client and without additional programs. Activate Steam Play for all games By default, Steam Play / Proton is only enabled for those games that Valve has marked as compatible, a few tens of hundreds or thousands of titles that are available on Steam. That does not mean that those that have not been marked as such do not work, but that the company has not yet reviewed if they are or have filed any possible errors that may arise. To cover their backs, they do not enable execution through Proton, unless you choose to do it voluntarily. To play a Windows game in Linux manually you just have to make Proton work with all of them regardless of whether their compatibility has been confirmed or not. You can do that one more time from Preferences. Now, instead of going to the account section, go to Steam Play. There, mark Enable Steam Play for all titles. 1
