The delegation achieved two individual gold medals and one in international mixed teams
CARACAS.- With three gold medals, one of them obtained in the judo international mixed teams competition, Venezuela achieved a historic result in the 2018 Buenos Aires Youth Olympic Games that were closed yesterday.

"History was made," said the Minister for Youth and Sports, Pedro Infante, recently. to the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN) from the Olympic village, surrounded by youth champions Katherine Echandia, María Giménez and Carlos Páez. "It is the best result for Venezuela in an Olympic Games, both adult and youth," added Infante.
Venezuela finished 34th in the medal table by winning two individual gold medals. Our country ranked 63rd in Singapore 2010 and 53rd in the Nanking 2014 edition.

According to Infante, the result obtained in Buenos Aires 2018 will mark a before and after in Venezuelan sport and will reinforce the route for the Olympic Summer Games of Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024.

On the last day, Brazil thrashed Russia 4-1 in the men's indoor soccer final and won the gold medal.
Russia was champion of Buenos Aires 2018 with 28 gold, 18 silver and 12 bronze escorted by China (18-9-9) and Japan (15-12-12).
