An adventure that did not exceed 10 years. Less than a decade ago, Porsche started selling its first diesel vehicle. It was in 2009, when Cayenne appeared with an oil motorization, opening the way to a series of variants that extended to Panamera and Macan. But the new scenario of the industry and the complications arising from the dieselgate led the executives of the sports firm to decree the definitive cessation of these engines that were produced by the Volkswagen Group, as indicated by the president of the company, Oliver Blume, Speaking to the German newspaper Bild Sonntag , the strategy will go by saying goodbye to diesel to focus on gasoline, hybrid and electric cars.

Porsche

"In the future there will be no more Porsche diesel cars. We have never developed and produced diesel engines. However, the image of Porsche has been hit. The diesel crisis has caused us many problems, "said the CEO of the German firm.

These statements reinforce the idea that had been discussed in the sector, because since February the company had eliminated the diesel variants of Macan and Panamera, due to what they explained as a "cultural change" of users, who are demanding more versions petrol and hybrids, to the point that last year global sales of diesel cars barely reached 12% of the total.

So, what is the road that Porsche will take? The brand's plans go along the "green" path and for that they will offer a hybrid or electric variant in all its models in 2025. To this it will be added that the first Porsche zero emissions will reach the market next year. It will be the Taycan, a sport that will be driven by two synchronous electric motors of continuous operation, which will deliver a power of more than 600 horses and will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.5 seconds. As if that were not enough, it will have an autonomy of close to 500 kilometers.

But Taycan is just one example of Porsche's commitment to electromobility. In addition, the Germans will invest 2022 more than six billion euros in the development of this more efficient technology, doubling the budget contemplated at the beginning. Of those three billion extra euros, 500 will be used for the development of variants and derivatives of the Taycan, about one billion will go to the electrification and hybridization of the existing range, 700 million will be dedicated to new technologies, charging infrastructure and mobility intelligent and the rest for the expansion of production centers.
