Seat-Tarraco-2018-1118-2-985x700.jpg

Since the end of 2018 Seat has for sale the new Seat Tarraco 2018. It is a large SUV that adds to the range of Ateca and Arona. It is therefore the third SUV of the brand. The new Seat Tarraco 2018 shares many components and elements with the Skoda Kodiaq and the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace. This new Seat Tarraco 2018 is a large SUV and up to three rows of seats. It is, therefore, a model that is part of the SUV-D segment (here you can see which are the best-selling models in this category). Starting with its dimensions, it measures 4.73 meters long, 1.83 meters wide and 1.65 meters high. Its wheelbase is 2.78 meters. These measures are practically traced to those of the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace. In this sense, the battle and the width are exactly the same. And it only changes slightly the length (the Tiguan Allspace is 3 centimeters shorter) and the height (the Tiguan Allspace is 2 centimeters higher). Regarding the Kodiaq, there is some difference, but neither is it bulky. In this sense, the Kodiaq is somewhat shorter (4 centimeters) and wider (5 centimeters). Here we detail the measurements of both models:

Seat Tarraco | 4.73 (length)

1.83 (width)

1.65 (height)

Skoda Kodiaq | 4.69 (long)

1.88 (wide)

1.65 (high)

4.70 (long)

1.83 (wide)

1.67 (high)

All rivals

With these dimensions the new Seat Tarraco happens to compete with more than 10 rivals, in the Spanish market. On all of them, we can point out that the Tarraco is one of the largest. Next we published which would be the rivals of the Tarraco and how it would be this by its length:

Kia Sorento (4.78 meters)

Seat Tarraco | 4.73 (meters)

Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace (4.70 meters)

Skoda Kodiaq (4.69 meters)

Hyundai Santa Fe (4.69 meters)

Mitsubishi Outlander (4.69 meters)

Alfa Romeo Stelvio (4.68 meters)

Renault Koleos (4.66 meters)

Nissan X-Trail (4.65 meters)

Peugeot 5008 (4.64 meters)

Toyota RAV4 (4.60 meters)

DS 7 Crossback (4.57 meters)

Competitors with 7 seats

However, and here comes the most important point, of all these rivals mentioned, those with 7 seats are much less. Hence, of the more than 10 previous competitors, the list is reduced to about 7 models, of which, in addition, two of them are from the same 'house', the Volkswagen group. They are the following:

Hyundai Santa Fe

Kia Sorento

Mitsubishi Outlander

Nissan X-Trail

Peugeot 5008

Skoda Kodiaq

Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace

Trunk of up to 760 liters

We also know the new Tarraco Seat, its luggage capacity, which has 760 liters with five seats and 700 liters with 7 seats. Here, once again, the load capacity of Tarraco is outstanding, of the best in the category. Below is the list of the segment ranking, according to its load capacity:

Peugeot 5008 (702 liters)

Seat Tarraco (700 liters)

Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace (685 liters)

Skoda Kodiaq (560 liters)

Mitsubishi Outlander (519 liters)

Hyundai Santa Fe (516 liters)

Nissan X-Trail (445 liters)

It is also likely that the second row of seats can move longitudinally between 17 and 20 centimeters. This allows to choose between a greater free distance for the legs of the rear occupants or, on the contrary, a greater load capacity. To this we must add a good habitability in the first two rows, if we stick to the figures of the Kodiaq. For example, it can offer a width of around 146 centimeters and a ceiling height of 102 centimeters. Both measures are outstanding and place the Tarraco as one of the most spacious models in the segment. The occupants of the second row will also have a large space. The width in the rear seats is 141 centimeters and the free height to the ceiling is 93 centimeters. Here, both measures are remarkable.

They do not stand out as much as in the front seats but they are still good. In the case that we opt for a configuration of seven seats, from here we have to notice that the third row mainly has to be used by children. And we say this because in the first place going in and out towards the third row is not an overly simple task. First you have to fold the seats of the second row and then practically pass over. And once we get to the third row, the space is only acceptable. It is 123 centimeters wide and 82 centimeters high. Hence, with these figures we think that those who will best feel in these squares will be children, since two adults over 1.80 meters will practically rub their heads on the roof and have a feeling of overwhelm.

Motors

Regarding the engines, the diesel offer consists of the 2.0 TDI of 150 HP. This engine can be chosen with 4 × 2 front-wheel drive or with 4 × 4 4Drive all-wheel drive. The 4 × 2 version is only available with DSG change while the 4 × 4 is with manual and automatic double clutch DSG. The next diesel mechanic is the 2.0 TDI 190 hp, which will only be available with a 4 × 4 traction system and a seven-speed DSG dual clutch box. As for gasoline will be available 1.5 TSI 150 HP with 4 × 2 traction and 2.0 TSI 190 HP with 4Drive all-wheel drive and DSG change.

The most equipped in Seat

In relation to the equipment, the Tarraco can have a great level of equipment. We talked about elements such as the Wi-Fi hotspot with connection for up to eight devices, the Car Play and Android Auto systems and the Google Maps-based browser with a screen of up to eight inches. However, we are most struck by active speed control systems by radar and the system that reads the lines of the road by intervening on the direction. If both are combined, the car can circulate a little less than a minute completely alone. What it will do is read the lines on the road and turn the direction as necessary. Testing this system we can point out that it is recommended especially when long trips are made, where symptoms of fatigue may appear.

However, we must make it clear that it is not a system to drive alone, as there are times when the lines of the road are not read 100%, which means that the vehicle does not follow the path marked by the lines and manual intervention is necessary. However, the Tarraco shows that we are one step away from autonomous driving, which translates into greater safety, something that is complemented by the maximum score achieved in safety by the EuroNCAP body.

Name by po[CENSORED]r vote

Finally, note that the name of Tarraco has been chosen by a vote by Seat for 146.124 fans of the brand. These were the ones who decided by majority that the chosen name has been Tarraco. Specifically, Tarraco received 51,903 valid votes (35.52%), ahead of Ávila, which had the support of 41,993 participants (28.74%); de Aranda, in third position, with 39,321 votes (26.91%), and Alboran, which collected 12,907 (8.83%). According to the brand, Tarraco, like the other three finalist proposals, is aligned with the values of Seat and fits perfectly with the personality of the new model.

The town, now known as Tarragona, is the oldest Roman settlement on the Iberian Peninsula and was the capital of Hispania during the Roman Empire. Tarragona is a Mediterranean city that breathes culture, young spirit, history and architecture, values with which Seat is identified and transmitted through its vehicles. Tarraco is the first name of Seat chosen by po[CENSORED]r vote and the fourteenth Spanish place name of a model of the brand. It is necessary to go back to the year 1982 to find the Round, first model of SEAT named with the Spanish toponymy. Since then 12 more models have arrived: Ibiza, Malaga, Marbella, Toledo, Inca, Alhambra, Córdoba, Arosa, León, Altea and, the two most recent, Ateca and Arona.
