From the month of September 2018, Jeep will put on sale the new Jeep Renegade 2019. It is an update of the Jeep Renegade introduced in 2014 and renewed in 2017. It is, therefore, the second update that Jeep perform to this model. While the changes of the year 2017 referred to the interior and equipment, now the changes introduced affect mainly the range of engines and abroad. So, for example, this SUV now incorporates a grille with new ones with a new more attractive finish, some optical groups with LED diodes, a new bumper with new fog lamps ... Other improvements introduced is the redesign of the tailgate handle, which now offers better accessibility to the boot and greater ease of use.

As for the engines, Jeep introduces a new family of gasoline engines of three and four cylinders (a 1.0-liter engine of 120 hp and a 1.3-liter engine of 150 or 180 hp) to provide even more efficiency and performance. Along with the gasoline versions also appear the 1.6-liter Multijet diesel with 120 hp and a 2.0 engine of 140 and 170 hp. Also, Jeep also improved at the time the information and entertainment system known as Uconnect, which is characterized by incorporating screens with different sizes: from 5 inches and up to 8.4 inches. In this way and depending on the level of finish the car can equip the Uconnect 5.0 system or the new 7.0 and 8.4. This main novelty allows the incorporation of the Apple Car Play and Android Auto systems.

It has also improved its equipment in terms of driving assistants. In this sense, Jeep has now added the lane departure warning, the 'intelligent' speed control with deactivation of serial traffic signals and the frontal collision warning with active braking control. What has not changed is the other aspects of this model. For example, we can point out that the Renegade still belongs to the segment of urban SUVs or small SUVs. However, with respect to these SUVs, the Renegade is a model with greater focus on the country.

Faced with the tendency to create models that only serve for city Jeep has preferred to choose not to forget its roots and provide the Renegade with a larger 4 × 4 packaging. Hence, we can ensure that the Jeep Renegade has more offroad skills than the Renault Captur, the Peugeot 2008 or the Seat Arona or the Nissan Juke, among others. Within the category there are some rivals who can have more orientation offrad, especially by terner versions 4 × 4 as is the case of the Opel Mokka X, Suzuki Vitara or Fiat 500X, among others. However, it should be borne in mind that in this segment of small SUVs the demand for 4 × 4 traction is not very high. Even so, as is logical - on the other hand - Jeep has a focus closely linked to the 4 × 4 and with some historical origins with the Willys impossible to forget.

Following sections such as dimensions, the new Jeep Renegade has a length of 4.23 meters, a width of 1.81 meters and a height of 1.69 meters. With these measures we can affirm that, although it is not the largest of the category, the Renegade presents good dimensions. For example, only the Mazda CX-3 and the Opel Mokka X (both 4.28 meters long) and the Fiat 500X (4.25 meters long) surpass it. In contrast, the Renegade is larger than most rivals such as: the Suzuki Vitara (4.17 meters), the Peugeot 2008 (4.15 meters), the Citroën C4 Cactus (4.15 meters), the Nissan Juke (4.13 meters) or the Renault Captur (4.12 meters). Once we get inside this Jeep we check that the interior space is quite good.

In front, for example, two adults will travel with total comfort as they have 142 centimeters wide and a ceiling height of up to 104 centimeters. Behind, the free height reaches up to 100 centimeters and the width is 136 centimeters, two measures that continue to be good. However, we do not like so much space for the legs of the rear occupants. Here behind those passengers who are taller will graze with their legs on the backs of the front seats.

Regarding the trunk, the Renegade offers a capacity of 390 liters. This means that the Jeep will have a good capacity, being in the middle of the classification of the category. It is true that there are models with more load capacity (such as Honda HR-V, with 470 liters, Suzuki SCross, with 430 liters, Mitsubishi ASX, with 410 liters or Opel Crossland X, with 410 liters) ... But there are also with less trunk (like Renault Captur, with 377 liters, Ford EcoSport, with 375 liters, Hyundai Kona, with 361 liters), among others. In addition and in this sense the Renegade has the Terrain Select a driving mode selector that will offer us a greater versatility when driving off the asphalt.
