Juppitèr Posted October 1, 2018 Posted October 1, 2018 More than one ton of cocaine was seized in Ecuador and El Salvador in a joint operation between the Office of the Prosecutor, the Anti-Drug Agency (DEA) and foreign authorities. Through the corresponding investigation, the tracking and subsequent intervention of some routes, collection points, boats and crews that moved the narcotics out of the country was achieved. The first operation took place in Guayaquil (Ecuador), where the Counter-Narcotics Investigation Unit managed to seize 730 kilos of cocaine. The investigation found that the drug was transported in a boat equipped with two outboard motors. Three people of Ecuadorian nationality who manned the vessel were arrested. The authorities reported that the coca shipment had left Ipiales (Nariño) for the neighboring country . "The drug traffickers use clandestine land routes to get the drug to Ecuadorian coastal areas and then be sent by speedboats to Central America and the United States," reiterated the National Police. On the other hand, the Salvadoran Naval Force managed to locate a semi-submersible in which the cocaine that had been sent, according to the authorities, was seized from the Colombian Pacific, and was destined for Central America. Inside the boat, 26 sacks containing 575 kilos of cocaine were found. Three Colombian citizens were captured by the Salvadoran authorities. These indicated that, apparently, the cocaine found belongs to a drug trafficking network that commits crimes in the departments of Nariño, Cauca and Valle del Cauca made up of Colombian, Ecuadorian, Guatemalan and Mexican citizens.
