Warlock- Posted September 25, 2018 Posted September 25, 2018 Ford presents the new Ford Edge in Europe. This model is a restyiling of the Edge presented in 2016, but premieres engines and technology. The Ford Edge if placed as the largest model within the Ford SUV Range, formed by the EcoSport, the Kuga and the renewed Edge. We speak then of a large SUV or SUV. We say it is large because it is around 4.8 meters long, so it is a direct rival of premium models such as the Audi Q7, the BMW X5, Lexus RX, Mercedes GLE ... Below the 4.8 meters you also find other competitors, such as the Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia Sorento, Mitsubishi Outlander, Nissan X-Trail ... The Ford Edge is defined as a model with a high technological load, thanks to the multiple driving aids it offers, such as the post-collision brake, the evasive turn assistant and the adaptive cruise control with stop and start as well as the assistant centered rail The post-collision brake limits the scope of a possible second impact when an accident occurs. It achieves this by applying a moderate braking pressure when detecting a first collision, progressively reducing the speed of the vehicle. With the evasive steering assistant the new Edge manages to help the driver to avoid vehicles that are stopped or circulate at a lower speed. It can operate at urban or highway speeds since it uses the radar and a camera. This way it can intervene in the direction if it detects an imminent collision. Finally, the adaptive cruise control with stop and start and rail centering maintains a comfortable distance with the vehicle in front thus helping the driver on long trips with light traffic, as it also helps to keep the vehicle within the lines of the lane. Other technologies included are the adaptive frontal lighting system, the blind spot information system or the antifog beacons among many others. Another innovation that comes with the Edge is the new variant of the diesel 2.0 EcoBlue biturbo engine, which is associated with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The propeller generates 238CV thanks to an architecture composed of two turbos, one small high pressure and one higher low, thus achieving a high level of response and high torque figures. To this must be added advanced injection technology and low friction architecture, which ensure that the new Edge complies with the demanding Euro 6 regulations, with consumption figures and emissions from smaller engines. The new 8-speed automatic transmission also contributes to this reduced fuel consumption by analyzing the driving style and characteristics of the road to offer high levels of running comfort and good performance figures. The Ford 2.0-liter EcoBlue engine, which features the standard Auto Start-Stop, is also available in a 190 HP version with Ford's six-speed manual and intelligent all-wheel drive. In terms of design developments, the new Edge can equip the ST-line sports design line with an improved front and rear design as well as a wide grille, color details and 20-inch aluminum wheels. At the time of seeing other virtues of the Edge we see that this model is characterized by having a good relationship between quality, equipment and ride comfort. For example, as soon as we get on it, we see that it has a good habitability. Specifically, we are talking about 149 centimeters wide in the front seats and 152 centimeters in the rear seats. Both are two good figures. And the same happens with the free distance to the ceiling that hovers around 100 centimeters, both in front and behind (levels also very good). As for the boot, the Ford Edge offers a load capacity of around 600 liters. In this sense, the Edge remains in an intermediate position. It is not the one with a bigger boot, but neither is it the one with the lowest load capacity since there are other cars like the Touareg that, with 580 liters, still have a lower load capacity. Inside we will find a new wireless charging panel for smartphones as well as the Ford SYNC 3 system that is fully compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay systems. Users who wish can improve their audio experience with a new system signed by the Danish brand Bang & Olufsen. Also available as an option is a digital 3D instrument panel, which, being fully configurable, offers the driver the possibility of including the information he or she wants. The new Edge will be available to European users with four lines of equipment, Trend, Titanium and Vignale in addition to the sporty ST-line. Regards! Fightz@News.
