Blexfraptor
The manufacturer Plextor has planned to launch at the beginning of 2018 its most powerful SSD to date, the Plextor M9Pe that will come in M.2 and PCI-Express, with which it intends to compete with the kings of the segment at present, the Samsung 960 Evo and 960 Pro. For the moment, the manufacturer has just published the first real data -that is not theoretical- of performance, and the truth is that with these in hand, if the price goes along they will make it difficult for Samsung. The SATA interface has long since peaked, and that's why storage device manufacturers have been looking for alternative interfaces for years to provide much more performance. For this reason for years they found a gold mine in the PCI-Express interface, which provides much more bandwidth, which coupled with the M.2 format that is cheap to manufacture and simple to use, has been quite a " BOOM "of devices in this format. The Plextor M9Pe pretends to be the king of the manufacturer's crown, and of course everything points to it being placed at the head of all the tables, at least if the price goes along since this is still an unknown. We know that it will go on sale in the first quarter of 2018 and that it will arrive both in M.2 format with built-in heatsink and in PCI-Express format, in both cases with PCIe interface and NVMe protocol to provide the maximum possible performance and to compete mainly with Samsung, who has reigned in this category for some time with its 960 EVO and 960 Pro SSDs. And as we anticipated at the beginning, seen the performance in CrystalDiskMark that has published the manufacturer, has ballots for it, but also as we said will depend on the price and, let's not forget, the availability in the market, because Plextor has never stood out for counting with a wide availability of its products. Anyway, here you have the capture they have published, with quite impressive figures. It has been published by Jon Coulter of TweakTown (who surely already have a sample for review in their hands) and shared on Facebook by Plextor USA. We will see to see what happens in the end. I hope that the price accompanies and that they compete with Samsung with it, because this would force the Koreans to adjust their prices very likely, something that would benefit the users in the end.
