HTC Vive Pro: new VR glasses, now with 2880 x 1600 resolution

CES 2018 is coming loaded with news, and among them has highlighted the announcement that the famous manufacturer HTC has just made: the HTC Vive Pro, its new virtual reality glasses, come with numerous improvements among which undoubtedly highlights its two OLED screens with 2880 x 1600 resolution combined, offering a 78% increase in resolution compared to the current version.

HTC Vive Pro represents the update of the previous version (HTC Vive), and are designed for the most demanding virtual reality enthusiasts who want the best of the best. The resolution, cataloged as Premium, improves the user's immersion, and thanks to the OLED panels, texts, graphics and in general the user experience are even better.

In addition to improving the technical characteristics of the device, the manufacturer has focused on improving ergonomics and design so that they are even more comfortable and that the user does not get tired after several hours of use. Thus, the headband has been redesigned to better adapt to any size and shape of head, in part thanks to the fact that its center of gravity has been changed so that it sheds less weight on the user's forehead. Additionally, two microphones with active noise cancellation, two front cameras and, of course, built-in headphones that incorporate their own amplifier for unprecedented listening immersion are added.

The Vive wireless adapter
Another of the innovations that HTC has unveiled, has been the Vive Wireless Adapter, the first on the market that will convert virtual reality glasses into a wireless device. They have also indicated that it is not only compatible with the new HTC Vive Pro, but also with the HTC Vive of previous generation, which is great news for the current owners of these.

The wireless adapter incorporates Intel WiGig technology that offers an excellent VR experience thanks to operating in the 60 GHz band, which should not have any interference, allowing low latencies and great performance. This wireless adapter, however, will not be available from the start, as HTC has said they expect it to reach the market during the third quarter of the year.

At the moment we will also have to wait for the HTC Vive Pro, as they have not indicated the release date yet. In the same way, they have not said anything about the price of both devices, so we will have to wait a while to unveil these unknowns.
