Hurricane Florence has weakened and has become a Category 2 hurricane as it heads toward the East Coast of the United States, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) reported Thursday, although it remains life-threatening. Florence is located 520 kilometers from Myrtle Beach, in South Carolina, with maximum sustained winds at 175 kilometers per hour, according to the NHC, based in Miami. In addition, the center has claimed that the hurricane is heading northwest at a speed of 28 kilometers per hour. The center of the hurricane will approach the coasts of North and South Carolina this Thursday, after which it will move near or on the coast of southern North Carolina and eastern South Carolina, according to the NHC. 1
