At least five people were killed on Monday and another 20 were injured when a bus hit a column in Aviles, in northern Spain, officials said. "There are five dead," all of them passengers, said a spokesman for the government delegation in the Asturias region. Among the 20 injured is the driver, who had to amputate a limb, added the spokesman, unable to say if it was an arm or a leg. In the photos published in the local press, the front of the bus could be seen cut in two by the violence of the impact on the pillar of a viaduct. The accident occurred towards noon, and for now the causes are ignored.
