Shocking bus accident leaves five people dead in Spain

The vehicle crashed into a column of a viaduct. The driver did not lose his life.

 

At least five people were killed on Monday and another 20 were injured when a bus hit a column in Aviles, in northern Spain, officials said.

"There are five dead," all of them passengers, said a spokesman for the government delegation in the Asturias region. Among the 20 injured is the driver, who had to amputate a limb, added the spokesman, unable to say if it was an arm or a leg.

 

In the photos published in the local press, the front of the bus could be seen cut in two by the violence of the impact on the pillar of a viaduct.

The accident occurred towards noon, and for now the causes are ignored. The accident is the worst since March 2016, in Catalonia, 13 foreign students, most of them Italian, were killed in a bus accident.
