With these latest deaths LAB increases the number of victims to 41. Yesterday, Tuesday, two workers died in Vitoria-Gasteiz: a 43-year-old man who was in a coma after suffering a work accident on Sunday at the Michelin plant, and a 39-year-old postal worker who collided his delivery motorcycle against a van. With these last two deaths, 41 people have already died in a work-related accident so far this year in Euskal Herria, according to the LAB union count. The union has informed through a note that there are already four workers killed in the last two years in the plant of the Michelin multinational in Vitoria-Gasteiz, and denounces deficiencies in matters of prevention and occupational health and failures in the protocols of the company. The employee of Michelin, who worked in the maintenance area, was in a coma induced since he suffered the accident at work, when he was going to perform a job at a height in a tire firing press. Around 09:30 hours on Sunday, he went to prepare a lifting platform to move it and was caught between it and a fence. After the death, the Michelin committee in Vitoria-Gasteiz has unanimously convened a 24-hour strike for the 30th day, which will begin at six in the morning and which will be seconded in the three work shifts. In the other incident that occurred in Vitoria-Gasteiz, a 39-year-old postal worker died yesterday at noon in a work accident, when the motorcycle collided where she was doing the distribution of correspondence against a van. The event took place at 12:21 hours at the intersection of Zuazobidea and Zorrolleta streets in the Jundiz industrial estate of the capital of Álava. The woman was at the time of the accident distributing the mail in that place and according to union sources is an eventual employee who had been hired a short time ago. 1
