UN experts have pointed this Tuesday to possible war crimes in Yemen by pro-government forces and Houthi rebels in the areas they control, such as Sana'a or Al-Hudeida, but they have also blamed and criticized the military coalition led by Saudi Arabia. .

The group of eminent international and regional experts for Yemen, created by the UN Human Rights Council in 2017, affirms a report published today that both parties and the Arab coalition have committed violations of International Law that "may amount to war crimes "

Experts have investigated the violations and abuses committed in Yemen since September 2014, when Houthi rebels took Sana'a and provinces in the north and west of the country and expelled the government from the capital.

The conflict intensified in March 2015 with the intervention of the Arab coalition, supported by the United States.

"Individuals in the Government and the coalition, including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, may have carried out attacks that violate the principle of distinction, proportionality and precaution and may amount to war crimes," the group of experts said.
