G.O.G Posted August 24, 2018 Posted August 24, 2018 The Supreme Court of Justice of Guatemala authorized this Wednesday a trial against the current president Jimmy Morales to judge him for illicit electoral financing, information that AVN reports. According to local media, in addition to Morales, the preliminary hearing against opposition deputy Nineth Montenegro was also authorized, "both of which are indicated as illicit electoral financing." The decision of the Supreme Court will be submitted to the Congress of the Nation, which will have to install a commission that will be in charge of studying the investigation and listening to the defense of the Guatemalan president. Subsequently, a report will be carried out in which the decision to lift, or not, the presidential immunity will be made. According to the investigations, Morales did not report to the Supreme Electoral Tribunal, contributions that he received during the presidential campaign in 2015, in which he was a candidate.
