G.O.G Posted August 11, 2018 Posted August 11, 2018 Colombian Foreign Minister Carlos Holmes Trujillo announced on Friday the withdrawal of Colombia from the Union of South American Nations (Unasur), as reported during a press conference. Holmes offered information to the press about the diplomatic measures that will be implemented by the new president of Colombia, Iván Duque. "We are in a process of consultations with other countries that apparently wish to take the same course," he said. This determination of the Duque administration specifies the announcements of the chief executive during his electoral campaign, in which he offered the divestiture of Unasur of the South American nation. In this sense, the former Colombian president, Juan Manuel Santos had refused to attend the meetings scheduled by that body since April of this year, said Telesur.
