In order to increase the attractiveness of the championship, the FRF president insists for an extended league to 16 teams as early as next season. At the last press conference, LPF head Gino Iorgulescu made clear that he is not interested in the idea and that he would even want a smaller number of clubs. According to PRO Sport, Burleanu intends to propose to the Executive Committee meeting today to vote on a promotion-relegation system that will allow a quarter of the teams now in B to promote! Thus, 4 clubs would be directly involved, while 5th place would give the team a 6th barrage in the play-out next summer.

The Federation may require the number of teams in L1 to increase, but LPF may challenge the decision in court.
