Askor lml Posted August 1, 2018 Posted August 1, 2018 The president of the European Commission considers that the states of the European Union should increase their contributions. The president of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, responded on Wednesday to the Spanish government's request for help in dealing with migratory flows by saying that the available resources are "limited" and that they are the states of the European Union ( EU) those who must increase their contributions. "I am fully aware that the needs expressed by Morocco require a much higher financial effort, as you well know the resources of the EU Trust Fund for North Africa are unfortunately limited," Juncker said in his letter to President Pedro Sánchez . The Luxembourgian also reminds him that on July 25 the Commission, the High Representative of the EU's Common Foreign and Security Policy and the Austrian Presidency of the Union urged the Twenty-eight through a joint declaration to "feed" the fund to control migration from North Africa "with amounts that meet real expectations". In this sense, Juncker has ensured that as soon as they have the necessary funds, Spain will have more help this year as well as in 2019 and has assured that for Brussels "it will remain a matter of maximum priority". In his letter he also confirmed that the Commission also received on July 27 a request for emergency assistance for the Civil Guard from the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund, which "is being evaluated as a matter of priority." 1
