Blexfraptor Posted July 30, 2018 Posted July 30, 2018 Thome, Jones, Guerrero and Hoffman will be immortalized Víctor Boccone.- Jim Thome, Chipper Jones, Vladimir Guerrero and Trevor Hoffman will be the guests of honor on Sunday afternoon, in what will be the ceremony of their exaltation to the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. Jones, who played for 19 years with the Atlanta Braves, reached 97.2% of the vote in this class of 2018 to print his name in the Temple of the Immortals. The Braves third baseman, was a born leader and thus went into retirement as one of the best in his class. "(Chipper) As a player he was always consistent," recalls Eduardo Perez, who played with the now HOF for nine seasons. "He was a player very focused on his game. He liked to win. He never cared about his personal numbers and was only interested in winning. " Jim Thome will be another of the entertainers in this exaltation. However, at first his career seemed aimless; especially for not having a position in the Cleveland Indians. "When Jim Thome went up to the Majors, he always wondered what position he would play, because at the beginning at third base he was very rough. However, his hitting was what helped him stay in the initial one, "recalls Omar Vizquel, who shared with the new immortal for 13 years in the tribe. Thome will go on to immortality as one of the 8 players with more than 600 homers (612 to be exact). "One of the things that separated Jim Thome from others was his personality," says Vizquel. "He was a very calm and friendly guy. Always willing to listen. Without doubt, there are no players like that, exceptional like Thome. " Similarly, Vladimir Guerrero will become the third Dominican to enter Cooperstown, after Juan Marichal and Pedro Martinez. The "Count Vlad" is remembered for his remarkable batting and especially his good arm in the gardens. "I just want to enjoy that moment," Guerrero told Líder. "I'll be with all my family and some players who played with me." Finally, Trevor Hoffman will join Tony Gwynn and Dave Winfield as the members of San Diego Padres in Cooperstown.
