Approximately 23 million people in 28 Chinese provinces have been affected by floods since the beginning of the summer wet season. The figures are: 86 dead and 13 missing, according to information provided Friday by the Office of Flood Control and Drought Relief of China.

More than 2.18 million hectares of farmland were flooded and 30,000 homes collapsed, spokesman Zhang Jiatuan said at a press conference.

Many regions have been affected by the storms that started in July and have caused landslides and floods.

However, as part of the actions to face the season, the authorities involved sent 136 work teams to inspect 1,216 small dams, Xinhua said.

The Office of Flood Control and Drought Relief, the Ministry of Water Resources and the Ministry of Finance decided to channel funds of 1.7 billion yuan (250 million dollars) to help affected po[CENSORED]tions.
