ÚN.- After 60 matches played, four teams that started in the bunch of contenders, although not in the forefront of favoritism, face the semifinals of the World Cup ready to write a new page in the history of their countries.

More than recalling more or less preterite times, of wanting to emulate teams to remember, the four survivors, France, Belgium, Croatia and England, want to capture their own story on the lawn of the Moscow and St. Petersburg coliseums.

The competition, whimsical almost always, and in this opportunity full of emotion rather than quality, leaves for the resolution of the tournament two teams that have been world champions on one occasion, French and English, against two that have equaled their best performance. France and England were crowned hosts in 1998 and in 1966 before the two teams that dominate the history of the World Cup, Brazil and Germany.

Belgium reached the semifinals in Mexico 1986 but ran into the great Diego Armando Maradona and Croatia with France Zinedine Zidane, although in his semifinal his executioner was unexpected, Lilian Thuram, with his two goals. They will be two great duels.

France is afraid

The most expert in these games is, curiously, the youngest team of survivors, the French team, a team with many possibilities that has progressed hand in hand with the vertigo of the almost beardless Kylian Mbappé, the regular contribution of Antoine Griezmann, tireless work in the midfield of the Ngolo Kanté, Paul Pogba and Blaise Matuidi and the concentration under the goalposts of goal Hugo Lloris. France is measured tomorrow in Belgium in St. Petersburg. On Wednesday they face Croatia and England at Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.
