Juppitèr Posted May 24, 2018 Posted May 24, 2018 The Organization of American States (OAS), headed by Luis Almagro, called for new elections in Venezuela, considering that the passes of Sunday, May 20 were held "without respect for basic guarantees." In a statement posted on its website, the OAS said that the elections, in which there was widespread abstention and was re-elected as president of Venezuela Nicolás Maduro, did not have "the necessary guarantees or the basic principles of any election. " The Secretariat considered that "political participation was repeatedly violated by preventing candidacies and hindering the vote of millions of Venezuelans living abroad" and that they could not update their information or register in the electoral register. The report refers to the impossibility of competing in the elections of the main leaders of the Democratic Unity Table (MUD) that were disqualified. In addition, for the General Secretariat of the OAS "the vote of the Venezuelan citizenship was neither free, nor secret, nor universal" because it ensures that 1,400 "red dots" were installed, some tents that the Chavismo places very close to the centers of voting in all elections to make propaganda. The General Secretariat affirmed that the system was designed to "benefit the pro-government candidates" and guarantee a victory for Maduro against ex-Governor Henri Falcón, who was second followed by the evangelical expats Javier Bertucci and the engineer Reinaldo Quijada.
