amd ryzen 3000

2018 is a year in which, in the technological world, there are several trends and information sources. When it comes to processors, whether CPUs or GPUs, nanometers seem to be in fashion. And, this year will be the turning point for both Nvidia and AMD.

The manufacturing process of the processors is quite important. The more miniaturized the components are, the more you can increase the speed or number of nuclei of the chip and, moreover, the more efficient they will be at the energy level. That is why mobiles bet on such miniaturization (the latest news we had alluded to the Apple A12 SoC of the iPhone in 2018), but also the manufacturers of processors for laptops and desktop computers.

Of course, some are costing more than others. AMD presented its roadmap for processors a few weeks ago, marking 2019 as the year in which we would see the new Ryzen manufactured in 7 nanometers. Intel has also commented on this, but it seems that it is costing them lower the amount of nanometers. Since 2014, Intel has used a manufacturing process in 14 nanometers (which has been improving over time) and with Ryzen in the street, it seems that they have entered the hurry to go down to 10 nanometers.

However, if at first we were going to have the first Intel processors in 10 nm this year, a few days ago we learned that the company was delaying mass production by 2019. Next year, AMD will also move the chip, but with the Ryzen of tercara generation with Zen 2 architecture manufactured in 7 nanometers.

We already knew this, but now the company has confirmed that they will go directly from their Zen + (manufactured in 12 nm) to 7 nanometer with the Ryzen 3. This year they will be able to show the first examples of processors manufactured in 7 nanometers and will be the next year when they make the move to Zen 2. By the end of 2019 and the beginning of 2020, AMD will approach Zen 3 with the 7 nm + processors.

In other words, everything goes according to plan in terms of the new AMD processors, the Ryzen 3000. Now, what about the graphics? Nvidia's plans for their new graphics are completely unknown and the only '' information '' on the matter is based on rumors and alleged leaks. However, AMD would already be testing the Vega 20 graphics with 7 nanometer architecture and, according to the latest reports, the roadmap for the Vegas of 7 nm is the same as for the Ryzen.

This could explain the absence of news from AMD for graphics focused on videogames this year, as they might be considering giving a hit on the GPUs like they did last year with Ryzen. Of course, hopefully it works better than the first attempt with Vega .
