GUCCI- Posted June 26, 2017 Posted June 26, 2017 Jaguar is adding a more powerful 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder option to the parade of engines already offered in the 2018 XE, XF and F-Pace. The base engine makes 247 hp, but now you can check the box for an optional 296 hp four pot. This higher output 2.0-liter is similar to the one offered in the F-Type, and is a part of Jaguar’s Ingenium engine range. In all models the new engine will produce 295 lb-ft of torque and be paired with the always-impressive ZF eight-speed auto. With the extra power comes quicker acceleration, of course. The F-Pace gets to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds now, 0.7 seconds quicker than with the 247 hp engine. Jaguar’s rear-wheel drive XF gets there in 5.4 seconds, just three tenths off the pace of the 380 hp supercharged V6. Finally, the XE equipped with the new engine does the sprint in an even quicker 5.2 seconds. 2017 Jaguar F-Pace Photo 1 2017 Jaguar F-Pace Photo 2 2017 Jaguar F-Pace Photo 3 CAR REVIEWS Gallery: 2017 Jaguar F-Pace Since this engine is so much more powerful, Jaguar is dropping the 340 hp 3.0-liter supercharged V6 from the roster of available engine choices. You’ll still be able to have the 380 hp version, but it’s hardly any quicker off the line than the new 296 hp 2.0-liter. That’s not to say the instant grunt and torque from the supercharger isn’t welcome in Jaguar’s lineup though. The new engine is badged as the 30t, and takes an expected hit in fuel economy compared to the less powerful 2.0-liter turbo. None of the ratings are EPA official, but other than the F-Pace, the smaller turbo engine doesn’t appear to be any more efficient than the larger supercharged V6 on the highway, and only slightly better in the city.
