Supermarkets in Doha were laden with Turkish food items after Bahrain, UAE, Egypt and Saudi Arabia cut ties with the oil-rich gulf country which alarmed residents as food supplies are mainly imported from Saudi Arabia.

According to details, shelves in Doha’s supermarket were filled with Turkish dairy products, yoghurt, juice, poultry etc.

Qatar has been working with new suppliers in order to survive the ordeal and keep its food stocked as its relations with Saudi Arabia, Egypt, UAE, Bahrain and Maldives deteriorate and the diplomatic row continues.

“The entire market scenario looks better,” a Family Food Centre representative told a local Qatari newspaper.

Turkish President Erdogan urged talks to end the diplomatic row that has engulfed the whole gulf region. Turkey happens to be one of several nations along with Iran who have offered help Qatar by exporting food items to the country in these trying times.
