Stendhal 𐌕 Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 For fans of Atletico Madrid, one of the main concerns about the switch to the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano is the issue of how they'll get there, making the government-run Metro links vitally important in the success of the move. A station already exists near the venue and from August 1, 2017, it will be renamed the 'Estadio Metropolitano' stop. According to a report which MARCA has obtained access to, it should be up and running in time and is equipped to handle 'the movement of large numbers of people for sporting events'. "From an infrastructure point of view, it is fully operational and ready to connect to the new development around the stadium," the report adds. The size of the station should help it to cope with the large footfall, as there are over 50 doors, a huge main lobby and a double-sized main platform. Once opened, it will form part of the city's Line Seven - the orange one - although the stops of Las Rosas and Canillejas on Line Two and Line Five respectively are also within reach of the stadium, about a 15-minute walk away.
