Always taking pride in the personality and character he has in goal, Marc Andre ter Stegen showed that in spades on Wednesday night as he played a decisive role in sustaining any hopes of a Blaugrana comeback.

In the 64th minute, Edinson Cavani was all alone in front of goal after a perfectly weighted throughball, but the German keeper was up to the task, saving the 1v1 with an outstretched left foot.

That wasn't the only decisive intervention, however.

The 24-year-old also made a key contribution in the final seconds of the match, scrambling to recover possession that would eventually set up Neymar's assist.

The keeper was in fact the one winning the ball back and getting fouled, and there is no doubt that without him, the impossible would not have been possible.
