As has been customary for years, with the advent of a new month Google has published data distribution of its corresponding Android operating system, in this case, to January 2017. This time there is a surprise: Android 2.2 Froyo Has disappeared from the list, and has its explanation.

If we compare the data of Android in January 2017 with those of the previous month, those for December, the first surprise that we will find lies in the disappearance of Froyo. The one that was one of the oldest versions of Android to date (was launched there in 2010) has finally fallen into disuse, and is so small the proportion of users who continue to use it - below even 0.1% Which had a month ago - that Google has decided to remove it from the list.

But the good news ends there, because the reality is that Nougat still does not take off among users of this operating system. Android 7.0 has grown slightly from month to month, and today it is already 0.5% (compared to 0.4% in December) of Android versions installed worldwide; Android 7.1, on the other hand, represents little more than 0.1% of all versions.

What remains unchanged is the absolute leadership of the KitKat, Lollipop and Marshmallow versions. The versions of Android 4.4 KitKat and Android 5.0 Lollipop are the only ones that have dropped slightly to make way for more updated versions (1.4 and 0.7%, respectively), but Android 5.1 and Android 6.0 Marshmallow have seen Grow their presence in Android distributions even though we are on track to be fulfilled the two years of the first version of Android 5.1.

Thus, KitKat represents 22.6% of all distributions, Lollipop amounts to more than 33% and Marshmallow is only a few points to reach 30%, with 29.6% registered at the beginning of January .
