G.O.G Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 Colombian authorities said Tuesday that since the reopening of the border with Venezuela three months ago, more than 11 million Venezuelans have entered and left the country. The main reason is the acquisition of food and medicines. "To date, a little more than 5 million 680 thousand Venezuelan citizens have been registered in Colombian territory and a little more than 5 million 615 thousand exits of citizens of the same nationality," Migration Colombia said in a statement. The information adds that about 92% of Venezuelans entering Colombia do so to buy food, toiletries and medicines. It also states that the difference between the number of entries and exits, which is close to 65,000 records, correspond to people who remain in Colombia because they take advantage of the possibility granted by the Immigration Card to stay in the zones authorized at the border, for up to 30 days . Likewise Migration Colombia says that 95% of the people who move through the border area do so by the department of Norte de Santander, where there are three steps enabled. Also added that so far this year have deported about 1,500 Venezuelans while another 843 have been "inadmissible." The Colombian-Venezuelan border, which was closed almost a year by order of the president of that country, Nicolás Maduro, was reopened last August. Quote
