Suarez™ Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 Ferrari says it will continue to add hybrid technology to its cars in an attempt to boost the brand’s profits, increasing sales to more than 10,000 cars per year. CEO Sergio Marchionne told Reuters all Ferraris sold from 2019 and beyond will include some hybrid elements. That means changing up the California T, the GT4Lusso and its bread-and-butter 488 GTB. Currently Ferrari ships about 8,000 cars per year, which puts them under the magical 10,000 number. Once a brand hits that volume, fuel economy and emissions requirements kick in. In the Reuters report Marchionne said there will be a fundamental shift in the way Ferrari builds cars, to include hybrids, electrification and anything else that will reduce its carbon footprint. But don’t expect the Prancing Horse to slow down. The changes could “even yield additional performance,” according to the CEO. We’ve already seen this in the LaFerrari, which uses a 6.3-liter V12 along with a 120 kW hybrid kinetic energy recovery system (KERS) a la Formula 1. Quote
