Vatican representative announces the start of dialogue in Venezuela

Talks to try to overcome political, social and institutional junctures will begin on October 30 in Margarita Island.

The envoy of Pope Francisco to Venezuela to promote dialogue, Archbishop Emil Paul Tscherrig, announced Monday the start of talks between the government of President Nicolas Maduro and Mesa opposition alliance Democratic Unity on 30 October in the island Margarita.
During a press conference at a hotel in Caracas, the Pope's representative explained that the decision has been reached on the basis of the agreements reached in previous exploratory meetings.
They have also agreed to draw together "the conditions to ensure security and the peaceful and democratic development of public demonstrations planned for the coming days," he noted.
The aim of these talks is to overcome the social, institutional, fundamental for the necessary democratic coexistence that Venezuelan society requires political situations.
