FearLess Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 Germany - In 2015, Wheels24 reported that the Renault-Nissan Alliance and Daimler will develop a new one-ton bakkie for Mercedes-Benz, as part of a five-year partnership. Earlier in 2016, spy images revealed that the Mercedes-Benz bakkie will share some of the architecture with the new Nissan NP300 but it will be engineered and designed by Daimler. In October, ahead of the bakkie's official reveal, the automaker has released a teaser clip giving us a glimpse as to its new pick-up's design. Here's what we know about the as yet unnamed Merc bakkie: • The bakkie will share the same architecture as the new Nissan NP300, but will be engineered and designed by Daimler. • From spy shots it's clear the vehicle will have Mercedes-Benz’s distinctive characteristics. • The bakkie will initially be produced in double-cab guise and its primary markets include Europe, Australia, South Africa and South America. • The Mercedes-Benz bakkie will be built by Nissan at the Renault factory in Cordoba, Argentina and at Nissan's factory Barcelona, Spain, for other markets, excluding North America. The teaser clip The teaser clip is filled with shadowy transitions and we're never given a full view of the new vehicle. That being said, what we are shown is a particularly sporty bakkie with what appears to be AMG-inspired trim. Take a look at it's headlights: Is that a bakkie or a AMG-tuned GL with a load bay? According to the automaker: "The rise of a new star: On Tuesday, October 25, 2016, Mercedes-Benz will present a new car class in Stockholm: the Mercedes-Benz Pick-up 'The Concept'.
