Of turns with the Audi R8 V6 engine what engine will equip?

We know that Audi V6 engine to equip its sporty R8, thereby creating a version of Access for your desired model. But we have nothing clear that that engine will be mounted. We review the different possibilities.

Audi has a V6 engine to your loved R8

Since the arrival of new sports car from Audi, the brand has made it clear that the R8 has been designed to accommodate a V10 engine inside. But with the disappearance of the range of mechanical V8 it appeared to be insufficient.

Shortly after rumors began it really will leave the Audi R8 with a single engine two powers? What if a new generation V6 engine replaced the V8 option? Some members have recognized brand even in a leak of future plans Audi, the Audi R8 appeared as model 2018 V6.

These are the data that standardises the two V10 versions available:

Versión Potencia Par máximo 0-100 km/h V. máxima
Audi R8 V10 540 CV 540 Nm/6500 rpm 3,5 seg 320 km/h
Audi R8 V10 Plus 610 CV 560 Nm/6500 rpm 3,2 seg 330 km/h

R8 V6: I could adapt a block of another model

It is speculated with a V6 block 2.9-liter twin-turbo, which is nothing more than a reworking of the current V6 3.0 TFSI S4, much of the responsibility for this hypothetical decision by Audi's has generous Chinese market applies generous tax burdens to 3.0-liter engines onwards but let's face it, Audi is not going to develop a 2.9-liter V6 or reform its S4.

Prototype of the new Audi R8

On the other hand, the block mounted on the current Porsche Panamera S of the current 3.0-liter V6 Audi S4 B8 that instead of having a turbo as the new generation of the S4 B9, had a volumetric compressor Eaton. Porsche added two turbos him and replaced the mechanical components of Audi by their own.

This means that Audi could take that block Panamera S for Audi R8, especially as the quality standard Porsche guarantee the absolute reliability of the block while maintaining the same amount of power. If quattro GmbH refines it a bit more, perfectly they could reach 450 hp. More cumbersome solutions would be one meter a third conventional turbo or replace one that already has an electric one.

But there is more, another possibility would be to "ask" to Porsche's 3.6-liter V6 and 400 hp Macan that in the Cayenne S yields 420 hp and is also going to ride in the new Panamera, possibly with 500 hp rounds, but this option carries on cost for Audi, resulting in the price of the model. But it is not ruled out.

Modelo Motor Potencia Par máximo
Porsche Panamera S V6 2.997 cm3 420 CV 520 Nm
Porsche Macan Turbo V6 3.604 cm3 400 CV 550 Nm

Another possibility would be the 3.6-liter V6 twin turbo and 400 hp Macan but with a power of between 420 and 480 hp, which costs would be very, very content, because one would change some parts with lighter to reduce the weight of the block and to increase power electronics. An option also exists but that would mean higher costs, almost like ask the Macan, then use the S4 B9 and completely adapt to R8, but this option would be to reach about 520 hp. Given the R8 V10 with 540 hp it is quite unlikely.

A new generation Audi engine would be good choice

Another option would not be far-fetched is to use the 5L 2.5 TFSI biturbo TT Clubsport, yielding 600 hp and production would lead to this set, although it remains in the air the possible adaptation (if any) to V6.

Of course, soon sporting Audi models begin their renewal and one of the models we've seen in spy photos is the next generation of the Audi RS5 that will leave the block 4.2 V8 450 hp for V6 twin turbo. Could this be the engine that will share with the R8? We still have no definitive data but its power will move around 470 hp.

Equipping a newly developed engine as shown in the Clubsport TT or to equip the future RS5, which will arrive in 2017, it would be unreasonable at all, is more would give a touch of class, by using the electric turbo technology is that will equip future models of Audi Sport, the sports car division of the brand.

Yet the brand has given no clue about that engine chosen, but these are the most likely options we believe what choice do you think the most convincing?
