The 34-year-old was banished from the club for nearly a week following a row with team-mate Andy Halliday and Warburton in the wake of their 5-1 defeat to Celtic.

Barton met with the Rangers boss and board members at Ibrox on Monday morning.

The outcome of the meeting is not yet clear, with the midfielder saying he could not comment on it but, when asked if he was still a Rangers player by Sky Sports News HQ, he responded: "I think so".
The former Manchester City player was absent as Rangers drew 0-0 with Ross County at Ibrox on Saturday.

Barton also missed training on Thursday and posted a lengthy statement on Twitter later that night about the incident.

Warburton refused to answer questions on the fall-out after Rangers' goalless draw at the weekend and decided to walk out of his post-match news conference early as reporters asked one question too many on the subject.
