RIO DE JANEIRO Samir Ait Said, a member of the French team artistic gymnastics, was operated successfully after open fracture in a leg, which occurred in the ratings on Saturday in Rio 2016 Olympics.

"Samir Ait Said was operated tonight in Rio. The surgery went well," he said the French Gymnastics Federation (FFGym).

"The operation went well. He woke up this morning around 6 local time," he said on Twitter his former teammate Hamilton Sabot, who was medalist in London-2012.

Ait Said (26 years old) had a double open fracture of tibia and fibula in his left leg after a jump. The Frenchman was evacuated on a stretcher under the excited applause of the Rio Olympic Arena.

The French gymnast had qualified for the final ring, representing a serious option medal for France.
