₩ăřņîñĞ Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 With the release of the Xbox One S, Microsoft has decisively beaten Sony to have the first 4K console on the market. If you've been waiting to buy the console now might be the perfect time, especially when it has so many great games available for the console. As well as having the ability to stream 4K content and play Ultra HD Blu-ray discs, the new console is also bringing 4K resolutions to gaming, but there's a catch. Games played on the Xbox One S will not run natively in 4K, they'll be upscaled. What this means is that the console is capable of guessing what color to make the extra pixels to fill in the full 4K resolution. But if you're looking forward to playing any of these games with the console's new HDR functionality then you'll unfortunately be out of luck. Games will need to be specifically built to support HDR, and the first of these, Gear of War 4, isn't out yet.
