Derouiche™
A Norwegian consumer has received an early bundle with its Xbox One S console and provided a few details, some unexpected, about the way it works currently. According to his report, 4K Blu-ray are not supported as of now. They simply don't work. Microsoft has issued a note about this topic, confirming this feature won't work until day one, when a dedicated patch will be released. "A small number of 2TB Xbox One S consoles were prematurely delivered to fans in Norway via a retailer prior to the launch date," a statement from an Xbox representative reads. "The first Xbox One S consoles available will be the 2TB launch edition on August 2, which upon start-up, will begin downloading the latest Xbox system update that also enables 4K functionality." While this sounds pretty weird, considering this is one of the Xbox One S selling points, it doesn't need to come as a surprise. At the time of launch, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 Blu-ray optical drives didn't work with Blu-ray movies until a patch to update the dedicated app was released. Not a great news, though, for people not connected to the Internet, as they'd just want to turn on their new console and watch a 4K movie. What's going to happen in those cases?
