Anti-Beyonce Protest; NFL headquarters

Last week, following Beyoncé's Super Bowl 50 halftime performance and a firestorm of outrage sparked by the Fox News machine, a group of angry folks made plans to protest the singer outside NFL headquarters in New York.

Organizers of the anti-Beyoncé rally called for those offended by her "race-baiting stunt" to "stand together [and] tell the NFL we don't want hate speech and racism at the Superbowl [sic] ever again." Regardless of whether the whole thing was a hoax – said organizers never responded to Rolling Stone's request for comment – the protest still went on as planned Tuesday morning. And it was a massive flop. According to reports, attendance was so sparse that, initially, it appeared that no one bothered to show up. Eventually, a middle-aged man in New York Giants gear bravely appeared to voice his outrage, later joined by a single volunteer for Ted Cruz's campaign and eventually, a woman wearing a Seahawks jersey and a "Police" beanie.

The reason for the sparse turnout? Apparently it had something to do with the weather. Or the fact that some people had to work. Or both. Whatever.

"Some of us are surprised that there are only a couple of us out here today," Ariel Kohane, the Cruz supporter, said. "It is scheduled from 8 to 4 p.m. – it's a business day. Also, the weather; the rain turned a lot of people away. You know, 6 p.m. would be a better time. Even lunch time – 12 p.m., 1 p.m."

That's too bad, dude.

To make matters worse (or, depending on your viewpoint, better), the protesters were outnumbered by a swath of Beyhive loyalists, who staged an anti-anti-Beyoncé rally of their own. They even waited until all the haters cleared out; even in the rain, Beyonce fans remain strong.
