Although the reviews received were excellent, Jonathan says his game in first person puzzle genre is heavily affected by piracy, and as a result could give up gaming industry Denuvo or use DRM to protect creation. When asked about sales of The Witness, Blow said that they competed on the opening week of Braid's first year. However, he stated that the piracy rate is too large to finance a new game. The manufacturer said: "The Witness is the most pirated video game on a high profile site". Jonathan financed largely concerned in the development of the game in their own finances, although the actual amount is not known, and this would explain his situation delicate.
